Presentación del Mazda 6 en Madrid del 15 al 23 de Diciembre

A mediados de 2013 el Mazda 6 2.2 diesel llega a USA.

LOS ANGELES -- Mazda Motor Corp. will become the only Asian automaker to sell a diesel engine in the United States when it adds a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel to the 2014 Mazda6 lineup in the second half of 2013.
Mazda announced the optional engine today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where the redesigned mid-sized sedan made its North American debut. Performance figures for the diesel were not released, but prototypes of the engine have generated 160 hp and 310 pounds-feet of torque.
"We've dangled the carrot long enough," Jim O'Sullivan, CEO of Mazda North American Operations, said in a statement before the show.
The third-generation Mazda6 goes on sale in January and is powered by a base 2.5-liter, gasoline direct-injection four-cylinder engine. It will square off in an increasingly competitive family sedan segment that includes recently redesigned entries from Ford, Honda, Nissan, Chevrolet, Toyota and Volkswagen.
In the United States through October, Mazda6 sales have climbed 10 percent to 31,168.
The Mazda6 also will feature what Mazda calls i-Eloop, a system that stores energy captured during braking in a capacitor and uses the energy to power auxiliary vehicle systems such as air conditioning or audio.
The 2014 Mazda6 was engineered using the company's latest chassis, frame, engine and transmissions, which Mazda collectively refers to as its Skyactiv technologies. They are designed to reduce vehicle weight and boost fuel efficiency.
